Alaska Shasta Daisy

Daisies are a summertime classic, and if you're looking to add some in your garden, this popular hybrid is one of the best. It's got all the looks of traditional daisies, with the addition of multiple flowers on each stalk. It is very easy to grow, and loved in colder climates for its increased hardiness. Makes a beautiful display in containers, where it's easily accessible by the butterflies that love it. Use it in a perennial border, where you can grab some for cut flower displays and enjoy its return each summer. You'll also want to divide this variety in 3 or 4 years, which keeps it healthy, and you can either plant divisions in other parts of your garden for a unified look, or give the divisions to a lucky friend. Daisies of My Dreams!

When I first moved into my home, a neighbor up the street had the most beautiful daisies and I developed daisy envy. I purchased these beauties and they really took off! I have them out by the road so everyone can see them. Stalks are 3' easily; I leave them up for a little winter interest, but they should be sheared back hard in spring or they'll take over the bed.

I have two of these plants that I planted on either side of my walkway. I didn't believe they would get as large as they did so I only planted them a foot away from the walk on either side. WOW! They ended up spreading over the walk, one on either side and covering up the walk! This made it difficult to get to my front door buy my oh my, what a beautiful journey those profuse huge blossoms made. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these plants!!

When they bloom they are georgeous but once the blooms die, cut back the stems or you'll have tons of seeds and they will spread and take over. The stems are very strong and mine are 3' high with no need to stake them up or anything. They are very easy to grow but watch out that they don't take over.
