Planted in 2005 and still growing

This palm is incredible. I planted this in 2005 in my backyard and, with winter protection, it is still growing today. Towering at about 9 feet in height, we have guests take pictures with it in disbelief that a palm tree could grow in Northwest Indiana. I wrap it with a strand of rope lights and throw some plastic wrap to protect the spear and its good to go. Leaves will burn up 75%+ in winter, but what can you expect when it gets below zero? Keeps growing year after year. Here's a picture of mine before I transplanted it in 2012. I believe this was winter 2010-11.http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/368624/

I revived the plant with a couple dead leafs but then the plant came back and grew very well in the clay rich soil that was from my backyard (we are 30 miles north of Chicago) and the plant doubled in size! When I ordered this plant I was expecting a medium sized 4-5 foot windmill palm but I got a seedling. Now it's winter and the palm has survived 4 snow storms so-far but has visible burns. Overall I had a good experience with this website and the ordering process.

I just ordered this palm tree. It was a little smaller than I thought. Just planted it outside and can't wait to see what it does. Will keep you posted on how it grows. Can't wait to see what my neighbor's say. Thanks Michigan bulb.
